HEAR FROM OUR STUDENTS
COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION WEEK
In celebration of Computer Science Education Week, 9 Dots teamed up with Google, Riot Games, and software engineers from 12 LA-based tech companies to host 24 guest speaker events at LAUSD and CUSD Title-I elementary schools, reaching nearly 1,000 5th and 6th grade students. Our guest speakers shared their experiences working in tech, including their education and career journeys, and invaluable advice to encourage our student coders to continue learning and embrace challenges. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, and share the work they’ve done with 9 Dots, gathering feedback and encouragement along the way. Thank you to all of the guest speakers who made CS Education Week special for our students.
2024 cS education heroes awards
On Thursday June 6th, we gathered to honor our 2024 Computer Science Education Heroes. The Computer Science Education Heroes Award recognizes the work of extraordinary elementary Computer Science educators. These educators have dedicated their valuable time to providing their students with the early CS education they need to develop the computational thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to become 21st-century citizens.
FIELD TRIPS
We are proud to have collaborated with Google and Fastly to host five field trips for 9 Dots students this school year. Through experiential learning activities, office tours, and employee Q&As, students got hands-on experience, learning what it’s like to work in tech.
Field trips help students find real-life applications for the concepts and skills they’re learning with 9 Dots, spark curiosity, and foster a love for learning. They also serve to inspire students to dream big and expand their ideas of what might be possible for them in the future.
Thank you to Fastly and Google for their generous support and the warm welcome for our students!
