Context

You’ve made it to the midway point! Distance teaching coding independently is no small feat, and we want to support you to continue teaching through the end of the school year. This workshop is designed to help you reflect on your students’ learnings in the first semester, as well as look forward to the curriculum you’ll be teaching in the second.

Here are some resources for you to help prepare for your challenge:

Facebook Group We are excited to share with you that we have created a private Facebook group for all independent 9 Dots teachers! Come connect with fellow 9 Dots teachers at other sites and build a community of local CS educators. You can use this group whenever you want to share stories from the coding classroom, cool resources you’ve come across, and more. If you have a Facebook and would like to join the group to connect with other CS educators, click on the link below and click “Join Group".

The Challenge

There are two steps in this workshop:

  • Reflect | Take some time to look back on your students’ data by completing a scavenger hunt.

  • Look Forward | Take some time to preview both the second and third modules that you’ll be teaching. What are some takeaways that you have for these modules? And how can you adjust them to better align to your students’ needs?

Be prepared to share out your plan for teaching independently during semester two!
